Artist Comments - Taken from 4:22-26;5:1
“Now my sons remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that you must build your foundation; that when the devil sends his powerful winds, his shafts in the whirlwind, when all his hail and terrible storm beat upon you, it will have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless sorrow, because of the rock on which you are built which is a sure foundation, a foundation on which if men build they cannot fall.”
I used to imagine the house built upon a rock as a singular home placed firmly on an immovable boulder. But as time has passed, I’ve come to believe that a better conception of the parable is a giant rock–the foundation of a great city–filled with thousands of homes, their lights blazing for all to see.
On the top of the rock, both to the left and the right, are multiple ridges in the distance, a reminder that there is no end to this rock. There is enough room for all who are willing to build upon it.

Over 2,000 years ago, a nation battered by invaders and torn apart by corruption and political intrigue, teetered on the brink of survival. This true account documents its struggle as a few of its leaders attempted to rekindle the faith of their decaying nation.
After one man stepped down from political power, he and his brother began a perilous journey into the heart of enemy territory in hopes of saving more than just their crumbling nation.
Written to teach, warn, guide, lift, and inspire, this book delivers a number of powerful and critical lessons for our day. Infused with a message of faith and redemption, it serves as a reminder that in the darkest times, in the depths of shadow, a flicker of hope always remains, waiting to be grasped.
The Book of Helaman is taken from the Book of Mormon, a book that has touched the lives of millions throughout the world. Named the Fourth Most Influential Work in American Literature, by the United States Library of Congress, it has been translated into over one hundred languages. And with over 200 million copies printed it is the sixth most printed book of all-time.
The Book of Mormon tells the story of a number of ancient American civilizations, documenting their rise and fall. The primary people escape the destruction of Jerusalem around 600 BC, journey to the Americas, and there found two nations.
Yet the book functions less as a historical document and more as ancient scripture as prophets, men chosen by God, recorded how the hand of God preserved and directed not only their nation, but their own individual lives.
In doing so, these men taught the principles of happiness, marking the path of a life well lived, distilling more than a thousand years of wisdom and inspiration into its pages.
Like the Old and New Testament the book serves as a witness of God’s dealings with men and women. The book reports numerous miracles, some witnessed by thousands, others experienced by a single person. Each a testimony of God’s concern for his children.
The book points people towards Jesus Christ as these prophets taught that the Son of God would be born on earth, would suffer and die for all mankind. Then in the culminating event of the book, a resurrected Christ appeared to the people letting them witness for themselves and for all the world that He truly lives.
